Where there is a will, there is a way

In this admiraful world there is nothing impossible for that only what determination of our future goals.
May be it will bring success or failure which based on the person’s attempt & attention. with a strong will somebody can do wonders. When we say about the power of the human will is extraordinary. Even many tasks may impossible & frightened away. Only some of them have the enough strength of will to achieve their goal.
Other thing is many of us are also discouraged by failure. We don’t have the patience to wait for the final output. One thing we have to take it in mind id failure is a stepping stone to success. There is no short cut to success and the earlier we have to realize things, which better for us.
If we take the great achievement in various fields have been possible who have done, they did not consider in mind the initial failure. The pioneers who wanted to fly got their limbs broken in their attempts to fly. but this did not prevent their trying again.
Many of us know how to ride a bicycle. If we think deeply we took a new one and we tried to ride that and not allow these to stop us from trying again. Probably we failed the second time too, but very soon &today we don’t have any regrets or persisting in our attempts.
The great Napoleon quoted that “impossible is a world to be found in the dictionary of fools” It is good to remember this whenever we feel like giving up. All of us possess the will power. Only some of people use this & others not to use it put the blame on others for their failures. This is what we not to do. If we wish to realize our ambition, it is not enough to have one and we should always never minded about the initial failures.
Therefor if we conclude this where the place the will has taken place there, should have the opportunity to achieve the final output and also to execute that there should be a way.
“Where there is a way, there is a will”

GALLE FORT

Galle fort, in the bay of Galle on the south east coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, and then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintain a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by archaeological department of Sri Lanka.

The fort has a colourful history. The Sri Lankan government ant many Dutch people who till own some of the properties inside the fort. The heritage value of the fort has been recognized by the UNESCO and the site has been inscribed as a cultural heritage UNESCO World heritage site under criteria 4. Fort is unique exposition of an urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

The Galle fort also known as the Dutch Fort or the “ramparts of Galle” withstood the Boxing Day tsunami which damaged part of coastal area Galle town. It has been since restored.

The British took over the fort on 23rd February 1796. On week after Colombo was capture.  Sri Lanka remained a British colony formally from 1815 till it became an independent Island nation in 1948. In 1865, part of the fort was converted into the new Oriental Hotel becoming the Amangalla in 2005. the importance of Galle also declined after the British developed Colombo as their capital and main port in the mid nineteen century.

Today inside the Fort you will find that it exudes old world charm.  Within the ramparts and stonewalls of the old Galle Fort which spreads over a 36 hectare peninsula magnificent buildings remain. The narrow streets are dotted with Dutch colonial villas and there’s a welcome absence of vehicular traffic. there are several museum and antique shops that display curiosities from the island’s colonial area. of the many colonial buildings perhaps the most absorbing is the Dutch reformed Church, containing ornately carved memorials ot the city’s Dutch settlers.

NON - VERBAL COMMUNICATION

All of  us communicate non-verbally as well as verbally. if irritated, we may tense our bodies, press our lips together, and gesture with our eyebrows. with a gaze , a glance or stare we can communicate intimacy, submission, or dominance.
most of us are good at "reading" non-verbal cues to understand the emotions in an  old silent film. we are especially good at detecting non-verbal threats. In a crowd of faces,
a single angry face will "pop out" faster than a single happy one. some of us are more sensitive to these cues than others.
Robert Rosenthal and colleagues discovered this by showing hundreds of people brief film clips of portion of a person emotionally expressive face or body, some times with a garbled voice added. For a example, after two seconds scene revealing revealing only the face of an upset woman, the researchers would ask whether the women was expressing anger or discussing a divorce. Rosenthel and company reported that some people are much better      'emotion detectors' than others, and that woman were better at it than men.

The growing awareness that we communicate through the body's silent language has led to studies of how job applicant and interviewers communicate                                 (or miscommunicate). There has also been a spate of guide books on  how to interpret   non-verbal signals. whether negotiating a business  deal or selling a product, it pays to be able to "read" feelings. fidgeting for example, may reveal anxiety or boredom. different expression may convey the same emotions; either a cold stare or the avoidance of eye contact may signify hostility. a give expression can also convey very different emotion; folded arms, for aexample, can signify irritation or relaxation.

MOTHER THERESA

Mother Theresa was internationally respected for her  work to relieve the suffering of the poor, the sick and dying. she began the work of helping the desperately poor of India by bringing dying person from the streets into a home, where they could die in peace and dignity. She also established an orphanage. Through her untiring efforts she succeeded in forming a congregation of sister whose work has now spread to five continents.

Mother Theresa was born in Skipje, Albania, on august 27, 1910 , and was named Agnes Gonxha bijaxhini. she left her home at the age of 18 to joined the institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Dublin. She entered the order of the sister of our lady of loreto when she was 18 years old. She was sent to Calcutta by the sister of Loreto and she became a geography teacher in a school i Calcutta. While travelling on a train on September 10, 1946, she heard the cries of some sick and helpless people, which inspired her to help the poor. This experience she described as a "call within a call" to help the desperately poor of India.

In early 1948, the year she became an Indian citizen, she asked permission to level her convent and sister Agnes became Theresa. She moved into the city's slums and started nursing to help the destitute in Calcutta. she donned a blue trimmed white sari, which became the uniform of her missionaries of Charity , founded on October 07, 1950. The missionaries of Charity now number nearly 3000 sister of various nationalities who work on five countries. They are helped by about 400 brothers and thousand of lay volunteers, Who run 380 hospices, leper colonies and orphanage, Including 160 in Indian.

Mother Theresa won many awards for her dedicated working serving the poorest of the poor. She was awarded the first John Peace price in 1968 by pop john Paul. she was honoured with the Jawaharlal Nehru prize for international understanding in 1972, the Templeton prize in 1973, the Albert schweitzer prize in 1975, the n Nobel peace prize in 1979, and India's highest civilian decoration a year later.

Mother Theresa died in 1997 at the age of 87.
she entered her life in Calcutta, the city that had inspired her as an 18 years old, to establish her missionaries of charity order. Although mother Theresa is no more, the good work she began lives on, as the Oder's , which first started in India, have spread to 87 countries "a drop of deliverance in an ocean of suffering" is the single phrase she often use to describe her life's work.

MY FAVORITE SPOT

Gale fort is one of the major tourist site in the country. And it was very best experience in my life. When we get in to the Gale fort, we were think it’s a place from foreign country. It was that much very different from our culture. And we saw there a large number of foreign people. Some foreigners are involving in business activities. And some foreigners are came there for tourism purpose.
In the Gale fort my favorite place was the mosque it called as Masjithul Jamiyathul Hamitha.  The mosque located in the junction of Rampart Street and Leyn Baan Street. The Rampart Street is right site of the mosque and the Leyn Baan Street is the left site of the street. It was built 1903 and this mosque 112 years old.

The mosque has an architectural value and this mosque very beautiful and higher than other building. And we can see the mosque the mosque from many angle and distance. And the mosque built based on Italian architecture.in the masjid promises there are two pools. The location of mosque is very beautiful. Another important thing is the mosque located near the light house and the rampart fort wall is in front of the mosque and at the same time the Rampart Street is looking parallel to the mosque.

When I observe the mosque the time was (3.30 pm) a prayer time therefore people gathered there for prayer and some people are involved in chatting with others. There are some small shops. The shop owners also closed their shops and gathering for prayer. During the prayer times there are some vehicles also parked there. The vehicles along to those people are gathered for prayer inside the mosque.

The environment of mosque also looking very busy at all time. A large number of people and vehicles also going on the road. Especially many number of tourists also going on the rampart street. Some people are taking photograph on background of the mosque. Tourist people also taking photographs. And at the same time there were some small mobile shops also. Some people are involving in selling ice- cream and snacks also.

The mosque is situated in very beautiful and it has adopted is very active environment. The architectural view of the mosque also very beautiful and the mosque is one of the heritage site of  Srilankan Muslims. We can see easily identify the mosque even when we look from long distance. Therefore we can say the mosque acting as a major landmark of that area.
Finally I would like to say the Gale fort is the best tourism place in whole Sri Lanka. And field visit to the Gale fort was the very nice tour in my life.

CITY PLANNING FOR WHOM?

When I discuss about city planning before that I hope It's better to describe about who are the stakeholders and also what are the parties were involving with city planning process. According to my understanding city planners always thinking about space. As we know generally city planners interlink with space. But on the other hand when we realize the space. The space should be erectly compain with people. therefore in this process we can assume people as a strong stake holder in city planning process.

And also I believe mostly when we do urban plan each and every planners must be think about general public aspect because of that people planning as a major role in urban planning.

As we all are know planning as a multi disciplinary aspect there fore according to my understanding as we all are know what are the type of urban planning. In this case we can identify the urban planning can be include
1) Social planning.
2) Environmental planning.
                                                                                                        3) Spacial planning.

Those things are the sub part of the urban planning. But in overall idea is when I consider those aspects. Those are make fore people . Because of that i would like to say about this question. finally I am comes with my own idea. It was the city planning for people.
